How To Get Fish Oil
First, players need to go to a river or lake to fish. After catching a few fish, go to the inventory panel and move the cursor over the fish. In order to get fish oil, hold S and left click to salvage the fish. You get fish fillets from most fish. Some fish additionally give you fish oil. After salvaging the fish, you will see the fish oil in your inventory.
You can fish in freshwater and saltwater sources. But in some locations, you may catch more fish than others. For example, Primrose, west of Windsward Hamlet, is an excellent place for fishing. There are different kinds of fish in different water sources and different areas in the game.
Fishing in the New World
To fish, you first need a fishing rod. You can craft it yourself or buy it.
How to Craft a Fishing Rod?
There are 5 different fishing rods you can craft in the game.
- Wooden Fishing Pole (Tier 1 – 0 Engineering)
- Treated Wood Fishing Pole (Tier 2 – 0 Engineering)
- Aged Wood Fishing Pole (Tier 3 – 50 Engineering)
- Wyrdwood Fishing Pole (Tier 4 – 100 Engineering)
- Ironwood Fishing Pole (Tier 5 – 150 Engineering)
There are also 4 different tier 5 fishing rods that you can obtain by doing the quests.
- Ancient Fishing Pole
- Angry Earth Fishing Pole
- Corrupted Fishing Pole
- Lost Fishing Pole
To craft a simple fishing rod, you need two materials. Green-Wood and Fibers. You can get Green-Wood from trees. Fiber is only found in Hemp. When you have enough Green-Wood and Fiber, you can go to a crafting station and make a simple wooden fishing rod.
