In this guide, we’ll show you how to become a captain and name your own ship in Sea of Thieves. The first thing you need to do is click on the adventure on the main screen and select one of the ship types. Or you can choose My Ships to buy a new ship. After clicking the Purchase Ship button, you will need to choose a ship type to play.
There will be three types of ships to choose from depending on your budget. Sloop is the cheapest ship you can buy for 250,000 gold. Brigantine is a medium-sized ship that you can buy for 375000 gold. Galleon is a well-armed ship that you can buy for 500000 gold.
How to Name a Ship and Become a Captain in Sea of Thieves
You will name your ship immediately after purchasing it. We recommend giving it a good name, as renaming the ship is not free. If you decide to rename your ship, you will need to go to a shop called Pirate Emporium and purchase a Ship Renaming Deed that allows you to rename your ship. Your ship name can contain up to 20 characters and can’t contain any numbers.
Once you have your own ship, you will notice that there are four ship options. Sail, restore, rename and dismantle. We do not recommend clicking the dismantle button as you can’t get your ship back once you have dismantled it.
